Making Blogging History....The "A" Story


Welcome to Atlanta where the playas play
And we ride on them things like every day
Big beats, hit streets, with gangsta's roamin'
And parties dont stop til' eight in the mornin'


After preparing, organizing and waiting anxiously for this day to arrive, i found myself nervous about the turnout, the event, the setup, etc...i found myself running around like a chicken with it's head cut off...in any an every direction, but then all that came to an end.

Thursday - June 5th - I get a chance to meet up with Blogger - Jewells, from Cruising on Jewells avenue. We meet after work at Atlantic Station, Copelands/Cheescake factory for some delightful food, conversation and plenty of laughter. I can't tell you how much i enjoyed meeting this lady, and how we shared the same goals with our writing, and other things, lol, but it was the ultimate fun. Jewells, is a jewell for real!

Friday - June 6th - Blogger buddy and Blogger Delight contributor, Capcity arrives in the A on a balmy but calm Friday night. Now you know i couldn't let Cap leave this place without showing her out to a good time, and a good time we had at Arizona's Steakhouse in Lithonia, GA. We sipped delicious drinks wow sharing a succulent meal of fried shrimp and french fries, enjoying the live band that played on the patio of the restaurant. After eating we weren't ready to go home so we ventured to the patio and danced to some good old southern funk under the moonlight, while my brothers and sisters partied in the parking lot, oooowhee, another good night, but it wasn't over then, nope, me and Cap will finish it off with a bottle of wine, and more conversation and laughter on my patio, where poured off a little liquor for those who couldn't make it...before we knew it, it was 4am.





Saturday - June 7th - Me and Capcity arrive at the Grounds Coffeehouse and began to set up the place the way we wanted. Eric Fleming, the musician arrived shortly thereafter and set up his spot on the stage. It was just before 7pm when the first guest arrived, and then a steady stream of folks thereafter. Rich, from the Rich House made his grand entrance with family in tote, mom, pop, brother and wife, what a beautiful family. Torrance Stephens, aka All-Mi-T arrive with Tony Oh, now the fun was just beginning. The caterer Annette set up a beautiful spread of lemon pepper chicken wings, bbq meatballs, seafood pasta salad, pasta salad, cheese tray, veggie tray, and a delightful fruit display of pineapples, melons, strawberries, kiwi, canteloupe and more. Soon every seat in the spot was taken and people stood in small crowds in both the front and back of the building. We were well represented in the blogger department, here's a list:

The music began and the musician, Eric Fleming serenaded us with Luther Vandross, Kem and many more. He was excellent. Then Jali, blessed us with some spoken word. Next up the authors of Bloggers Delight read excerpts from their stories to much applause and appreciation. Blogger sang, danced and cheered each other on, and the crowd was moved by our connection. Mothers brought sons and daughters, family and friends mingled and socialized. It was a very good night in the A, a overwhelming turnout, a beautiful blessing, a night to remember. In the words of Frankie Beverly, "We are One!" That's exactly how it felt, as it should be. Yep, i believe we are making blogging history, crossing divides, imaginary lines and becoming ONE!
