Reminisce...Let's Straighten It Out

Remember Latimore's "Let's Straighten It Out".

This brings back some memories from my child/teenhood. I hadn't heard the song in awhile but when i did, i remembered a party, a particular birthday party i had...

I was liking this boy, let's just call him Freddie. Well, me and Freddie had been giving eyes at the local ballpark. He was a silly boy, cute with that Sylvers Afro, (if you don't remember The Sylvers, they had really, really big fros, tight fros). He had nice, big, kind eyes and was tall too. Caramel colored, with teeth an a smile to die for.

Sooooo, me and my best friend figured out we would have a birthday party and invite him. WE did and guess what he showed up. I also invited a local acquaintance, a young lady who had just moved around the block, and yep, she showed up too. KB (her name) was pretty fly. She dressed just like she walked off the stage of Soul Train. She had the Butterflies in her hair, a perfect dancer body and was kind, and shy.

The party...well, was kind of lame. So me and my best friend went out to find more people to come...leaving Freddie and KB alone at my house. When we returned Freddie and KB were nowhere to be found. I waited and waited and by the time he returned...i was kind of upset. He told me he walked KB home and the rest is history. He and KB started dating.

I kicked him out and commenced to playing this song...Let's Straighten It Out, over and over again. I'm laughing now, because this was all my fault.

Lesson Learned : Never invite a pretty woman or girl to your house and leave her with your intended man or boy.

I'm smiling [Read: Laughing really loud] at your story, the song provides the perfect soundtrack.

I love the way music carries us, backwards, forwards, up, down, and side to side.

@Keith - I know, the song, the story, oh what a memory.

@B D Tramuel - stop laughing. OMG! I was so upset that she stole my man! But i felt just as stupid for leaving him there with her. LOL! Now what did the song have to do with the story...not alot, except he kept asking me...what's wrong? LOL!

Just the other day, some songs came on my shuffle and I was immediately drawn back to times shared with a certain someone and my heart beat just a little bit faster for a moment as I allowed myself to reminisce for a spell on times gone by. *sigh*

LOVE the story.

Way back then, I had a huge crush on "Kevin" and later found out that he was also sleeping with my roommate. Ugh!!!!

So wasn't my fault...

BTW, He still owes me $100. Lol

Lessons...can't put a price on them!

Love for a great day!
